Santa Marta hosted the 2017 edition of the Tras La Perla Summit: “Everything Happens in Pescaíto,” an event that connected territory, culture, and sustainability from the neighborhood level to the regional scale. Over two days, community leaders, artists, environmental experts, and institutional allies came together to discuss education, social fabric, infrastructure, the environment, civic responsibility, and cultural identity—highlighting the transformative role of neighborhoods like Pescaíto in city-building. With symbolic moments like the launch of the Water Fund, the premiere of the Soundwalkrs app, and contributions from renowned figures such as Antanas Mockus, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Wade Davis—alongside a free Carlos Vives concert—the event reinforced the importance of collective efforts to protect who we are and build a new future for Santa Marta and its region.
