From August 1-3, 2015, Santa Marta hosted the first Tras La Perla Summit: “A Shared Vision for a New City.” This gathering brought together local leaders, national and international experts, foundations, and communities to collectively reflect on and define the city’s future. Over the course of three days, key topics such as environmental sustainability, territorial identity, infrastructure, education, tourism, civic culture, and Indigenous communities were addressed through panels, dialogues, participatory workshops, and networking opportunities. The event highlighted the importance of building a more equitable Santa Marta, deeply connected to its natural and cultural riches, driven by collaboration, knowledge, and active citizen participation.
